This past Saturday was nothing short of magical as we celebrated the 12th Annual Jackson in Bloom in Uptown Jackson. With sunshine overhead and the community out in full force, it truly was an unforgettable day filled with laughter, creativity, and connection.
Families gathered as kids bounced their way through the morning on inflatables, while others proudly showed off their handmade goods at the young entrepreneur booths. Craft vendors lined the streets with unique finds, food vendors kept everyone fueled, and throughout the day you could spot seeds being planted and smiles growing just as quickly.
The History Center brought something extra special this year with their charming teacup gardens and birdhouses, while our community coloring sheets were proudly displayed for all to see. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore Uptown’s vacant spaces, giving a glimpse into the exciting potential for future businesses.
A highlight of the day was celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Andrew Jackson Mural. We were honored to have the original artist join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony—a truly special moment for our community. We also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Taylor Twins Memorial Garden, marked by two heartfelt tree dedications that brought meaning and reflection to the day.
Live music filled Uptown from start to finish, setting the tone as guests wandered between attractions. Antique tractors added a touch of nostalgia, while Cruisin’ Uptown wowed the crowd with an incredible display of classic cars. Kids also had the chance to participate in yoga at the fountain with Amity Yoga, and it’s safe to say they had an absolute blast.
We were also fortunate to have a student from Southeast Missouri State University lead two historic walking tours during the event. They were engaging, insightful, and a wonderful addition to the day. We’re so glad she joined us to help expand our knowledge of Uptown Jackson, and we can’t wait to see what she brings next!
The Jackson High School plant sale was as popular as ever, and the JHS crew handed out so many seed bombs throughout the day—we hope you grabbed some! If you think it was impressive this year, just wait…they’re already dreaming up ways to make it even bigger and better next year!
We were also excited to debut the Uptown Passport through Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization, encouraging visitors to explore and support our local retailers. If you didn’t grab one during the event—don’t worry! They’re free and available at our office (when open) or at the History Center during regular hours.
We added a lot to this event this year, and we truly hope you enjoyed every part of it—from the new activities and experiences to the returning favorites that make Jackson in Bloom so special.
A special thank you to our sponsors for this event—your support helps us bring these extra pieces to the day and continue growing Jackson in Bloom each year. Thank you CL Jordan Preservation, Legacy Preservation Enterprises, Guardian Primary Care, Alex Elfrink - State Farm Insurance.
From vendors and merchants to volunteers and visitors, we couldn’t have asked for a better showing from our community. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day so special.
We hope you had a wonderful day Uptown—and we can’t wait to do it all again next year...Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 24th! 🌸✨
